The Santelli Lab advances discovery-driven environmental science that translates fundamental understanding into transformative solutions for a more sustainable and resilient world.  

We believe that the most innovative technologies, management strategies, and environmental policies begin with a deep understanding of how natural and engineered systems function. By integrating expertise across Earth sciences, chemistry, environmental microbiology, ecology, hydrology, plant science, engineering, data science, and environmental policy, we investigate the physical, chemical, and biological processes that shape our environment. Our highly collaborative research spans scales from molecular mechanisms to ecosystems and industrial systems, transforming fundamental discoveries into sustainable solutions that advance water sustainability, ecosystem resilience, soil and plant health, resource recovery, environmental remediation, and environmental stewardship. Through partnerships with academic researchers, industry, Tribal Nations, government agencies, and communities, we create science that drives innovation, informs policy, and delivers lasting environmental and societal impact.
